History

  • 1993 – Commenced activities with integrated animal agricultural programs with the assistance of a Dutch organic farming expert

  • 1995 – Carried out child nutrition project by introducing Dutch milking goats in association with “A cup of goats milk” in The Netherlands

  • 1997 – Participation in formulating National Environmental Policy concerning community forestry as a national committee member of National NGO Action Front

  • 1997 – Initiated awareness program on ecological agriculture in 40 rural schools with assistance from The Royal Netherlands Embassy in Sri Lanka

  • 1997 – Introduced multi-purpose tree species to rural livestock farmers with the assistance of Mr. David Douglas of Water Aid (USA)

  • 1997 – Implemented chemical free home garden concepts among rural children in partnership with Food Industry Crusade Against Hunger (USA)

  • 2002 – Carried out sessions on inculcating young generation on “Eat Less Meat” with the assistance of Compassion in World Farming Trust (UK)

  • 2003 – Incorporated a native plant conservation project under the technical guidance of the World Conservation Union (IUCN) for the first time in Sri Lanka

  • 2005 – Explored and documented indigenous knowledge pertaining to native trees in Sri Lanka

  • 2009 to present – Continuing plant conservation project and Sunday School field planting programs in Gampaha District
